Custom Hot Sauce Labels

Hot sauce bottles face moisture, oil, heat, and messy hands, so durability is important. Here are a few materials we recommend based on how and where your product will be used:

• BOPP: This is our go-to for most hot sauce labels. It’s water- and oil-resistant, which means your label stays stuck and looking sharp even after repeated use. You can choose white, clear, or metallic versions depending on your design.

• Vinyl: Need something tougher? Vinyl offers even more durability than BOPP, and it’s an option if your bottles will be in cold storage, high-moisture environments, or go through some rough handling. Just keep in mind it’s a bit thicker and typically used when durability is the top priority.

• Shrink Sleeves: If you want full-body decoration or a tamper-evident option, shrink sleeves are a great fit. They wrap around the entire bottle, but keep in mind they require heat-shrinking equipment.

• Paper: Paper labels can work, but only in the right setting with the right protection. Think dry environments with protective coatings to help with durability. Paper labels generally aren’t ideal for long-term use around moisture or oil. However with paper labels, we can add finishes like foil stamping or spot varnishes.

We do! If you’re looking for tamper-evident seals, tear-away sections, or a label that peels cleanly, we can add perforations to several of our label types. Here are a few of the best options for hot sauce bottles:

• BOPP: This is one of the most common materials we use for perforated hot sauce labels. With the right adhesive and liner, it tears cleanly while staying durable.

• Shrink Sleeves: Want a full-body wrap with a built-in tamper-evident feature? We can add perforations to the neck or cap area of shrink sleeves so your customers can easily open the seal without damaging the whole design.

• MDO: If you’re going for a clear or “no-label” look, MDO film is a great choice. It allows for controlled tearing thanks to its directional strength, and still gives you the durability and moisture resistance you need for hot sauce products.

Here are some of the most common hot sauce containers and sizes we label:

• Mini Bottles (1.7–3 oz): Great for sampler packs, trial sizes, or giveaways. These include small glass woozy bottles and travel-friendly plastic bottles.

• Standard Woozy Bottles (5 oz): The industry favorite. Tall, narrow glass bottles with a small neck. Ideal for retail shelves and the go-to size for most hot sauce makers.

• Mid-Size Bottles (8–16 oz): Perfect for brands selling in grocery chains or offering a “family size.” These often include 8 oz and 10 oz woozy-style bottles or 12–16 oz round bottles for sauces and marinades.

• Bulk Containers (32 oz to 1 gallon): Common for foodservice or high-volume customers. We can produce durable labels that stand up to heavy handling and kitchen environments.

• Specialty Bottles (Flasks, Boston Rounds, etc.): Whether you’re going for a premium flask-style look or using Boston Rounds for concentrated sauces or drops, we can design labels that fit those unique shapes.

It’s all about durable materials and protective finishes designed to keep your labels looking sharp. Here’s what we recommend:

• Durable materials: We typically recommend BOPP or MDO for hot sauce labels. Both are resistant to moisture and oil, and they won’t smudge or peel when handled. BOPP is our go-to for most applications—it’s tough, versatile, and plays well with a variety of finishes. MDO is a great alternative if you want a more flexible material or a clear “no-label” look. If you need something ultra-durable, like for rugged environments or large-format bottles, vinyl is another option. For full-body coverage, shrink sleeves are naturally resistant to oil and moisture, and we can design them with tamper-evident perforations, too.

• Protective finishes: We apply a laminate or UV coating to your labels to lock in the print and shield it from wear. Gloss laminate gives a slick, shiny look and strong oil resistance, while matte laminate has a softer finish without sacrificing protection. UV coatings (either gloss or matte) add a thin protective layer that resists smudging and helps your label stand up to daily use.

• Adhesive matters too: The label’s adhesive needs to hold strong even when things get messy. We’ll help you choose the right one based on your bottle material, shape, and fill process.

If you’re selling your hot sauce in the U.S., your label has to meet specific guidelines to stay compliant. Here’s what you’ll typically need to include:

• Statement of Identity: This is just the name of your product, like “Hot Sauce” or “Smoked Habanero Sauce,” and it should appear prominently on the front of your label (the Principal Display Panel).

• Net Quantity of Contents: You’ll need to list how much product is in the container, typically in both U.S. (fluid ounces) and metric (milliliters or grams) units.

• Nutrition Facts Panel: Most hot sauce labels need to include nutrition information in the standard FDA format. There are exemptions for very small businesses, but you’ll need to apply for it.

• Ingredients List: This must list every ingredient in descending order by weight. If your recipe includes a spice blend or preservative, there are specific naming rules to follow.

• Allergen Statement: If your sauce contains any of the major allergens (like mustard, sesame, or tree nuts), you’ll need to include an allergen disclosure.

• Name and Address: You must include the name and business address of the manufacturer, packer, or distributor.

• Country of Origin (if applicable): If your product or ingredients are imported, you may need to include a country of origin statement.
