Tea Packaging Labels

Most round tea tins take two labels: a round label on the lid and a wraparound on the body. For the lid, measure the flat top inside any rolled rim. For the body, measure the straight wall between the top and bottom seams, plus the distance around if the label wraps all the way. Square and slide-top tins usually get a front panel label instead. Send us a tin, and we’ll recommend sizes for both labels.

Not for plain tea. Tea leaves and plain unsweetened instant tea are exempt from FDA nutrition labeling because they contain insignificant amounts of all nutrients. Adding sweeteners, milk powder, or other ingredients with real nutritional value, or making a nutrition claim, brings the requirement back. Ready-to-drink teas with sugar or juice need a panel. You still need the tea’s name, net weight, an ingredient list for blends, and your business name and address.

Screens make color with light and printers make color with ink, so a bright on-screen green or orange can print a little duller. Uncoated and kraft papers soak up ink and soften colors further, while coated papers and films keep them crisp. A few habits get printed color much closer to your screen:

• Set your design file to CMYK (the print color mode), not RGB
• Give us Pantone references for your key brand colors
• Order a sample pack to see how each material changes your colors

Use the emailed proof to check layout and text. It’s still on a screen, so judge exact color from a printed sample instead.

It depends on your container and where it sits. For pouches and boxes that live on a dry shelf, a coated paper or a recycled kraft stock looks great and keeps costs down. For tins that get handled often, or ready-to-drink bottles and cans that meet ice and condensation, a water-resistant vinyl or BOPP film (a plastic film that resists water and scuffing) holds up better. We will spec the material for how your tea is stored and shipped.

Yes. Depending on the project, we offer recycled paper stocks, compostable facestocks, water-based adhesives, and soy-based inks. These are worth exploring if sustainability is part of your brand. Some eco materials trade off a little durability or finish range, so we will walk you through the options and help you pick the right balance.

We ship through UPS, FedEx, and USPS, including Ground, Next-Day, 2-Day, 3-Day, and custom freight options.

We do not design labels in house, but you do not have to start from scratch. We keep a directory of Blue Label Approved designers we have worked with, and a portfolio of past tea label designs for inspiration. If you already have artwork, send it over and we will check it against our artwork guidelines before printing.

Our preferred formats are Adobe Illustrator or a high-resolution PDF. Full specs are in our artwork checklist, and our team will flag anything that needs adjusting before your labels go to print.

Foil accents, spot gloss, soft-touch matte, and bright saturated color are all available, and they pair well with both paper and film labels. If you want a premium look for a gift tin or a signature blend, a foil or soft-touch finish is worth considering.

No. We print without minimum order quantities, so you can run a small first batch of a new blend and reprint the ones that sell. Digital printing means no plates, so short runs and multi-blend orders stay practical.
