Timeless Vintage Labels for New Riff Distilling

New Riff Distilling Liquor Labels

The Background

When New Riff Distilling set out to create a vintage-inspired label, they had a clear vision but needed guidance on selecting the right materials and embellishments to achieve the desired look.

The team at Blue Label worked closely with them throughout the process, holding multiple consultations to review options, discuss constraints, and help translate creative ideas into a manufacturable design.

After evaluating several material samples, we recommended Aged Agave stock for its naturally warm tone, subtle texture, and proven performance in distillery environments. We also advised on the use of foil, strategically placed embossing, and a high-rub matte varnish to create visual interest and tactile appeal without overpowering the vintage aesthetic.

The result was a label that captured the intended character and craftsmanship while standing up to the demands of bottling and handling. The customer was thrilled with the final product and expressed appreciation for the collaborative guidance provided throughout the project.

Details:

  • We provided material samples so the design team could actually experience the label before printing. We decided on Aged Agave, which offered the warm tone and light texture needed for the vintage aesthetic. We recommended the right adhesive so that the combo performs well in distillery environments.
  • We also included foil, embossing on different areas of the design, and a high-rub matte varnish. The finishes were chosen to create modest visual highlights and texture without overpowering the vintage look. The high-rub matte varnish maintained a subdued finish and added durability for bottling and handling.
