Blue Label Doubles Down on Community with Mid-Ohio Food Bank Donation

Our company was founded in central Ohio in 1957. Over that time we’ve seen our region go through a lot of ups and downs. We have always made giving back to the community a priority, and now, when the community needs help more than ever, we want to do our part. As such, we are happy to announce the Blue Label Fund contributed $30,000 to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank in May 2020 to combat hunger in central Ohio caused by COVID-19.

Since 1980, the Mid-Ohio Foodbank has provided food to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, after-school programs, and other groups on need throughout central and eastern Ohio. The organization recently instituted a COVID-19 emergency relief initiative, matching every dollar donated up to $600,000. For decades, we’ve aimed to give back and help where we can, and this match allows us to double our $30,000 donation and help feed twice as many neighbors as it normally would.

“We’re excited to partner with Mid-Ohio Foodbank in their fight against hunger in central Ohio,” says Blue Label Packaging Company President Andrew M. Boyd. “We are just beginning to see the long term economic consequences of COVID-19, and as we learn more we’ll continue to assist in the effort to get our community back on its feet.”

What is the Blue Label Fund?

The Blue Label Fund contributes to organizations and causes that align with our overall goals, such as the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. In turn, we can support a variety of organization that aim to support our community in one or more of the following ways:

  • Give food and basic necessities to those in need
  • Offer healthcare for people who don’t have access
  • Provide scholarships and funding for people who lack resources to pursue technical and secondary educations
  • Help protect the environment and combat the effects of climate change

Allow Us to Reintroduce Ourselves

At Blue Label, we’re subscribers to the idea of continuous improvement. This means we constantly strive to do a little bit better. Whether it’s updating a method to clean a printing press that prevents a breakdown, finding a new adhesive that is more reliable, or improving artwork software to catch more potential errors, we are always striving to improve.

That same principle applies to our name itself. Over the past few years, we have continued to work on what we do best: high quality labels and packaging with fast turnarounds. While doing this, we added new product lines. A few years ago, we started offering hang tags and keg collars. In 2019, we began producing shrink sleeves with the same high quality and quick turns our customers expect from us. All this to say, we are constantly evolving to better meet the demands of the people we serve.

With the evolution of our processes and product offerings, we felt our name needed to evolve too. From here on out, we are changing our name to Blue Label Packaging Company. We specialize in printing high quality packaging and labels with industry best turnarounds times, and that’s what we’ll always do. Blue Label will continue to focus on the customer service and the constant improvement that is the heart of our company.

A breakdown of the main aspects of Blue Label's new branding.

If you are taking the time to read this, I’d like to thank you for supporting Blue Label. This company has seen a lot of success over the past few years, and that success has made a lot of people’s (and quite a few dogs’ and cats’) lives better. We are very thankful for the opportunity to serve our customers and hopefully working with us has made your life a little easier.

So, allow us to introduce our new name: Blue Label Packaging Company. Just like the Blue Label you’ve always known, but slightly better.

Thanks for everything,

Double or Nothing

Blue Label has experienced a lot of growth over the course of the last two years. In 2015 we produce three times as many labels per week as we did in 2013. We launched Blue Label with the idea that there would be people out there who would appreciate the highest quality labels in the shortest amount of time, and it looks like there are.

Ed #16: Digital Printing Possibilities

One day not so long ago, we received a phone call out of the blue from NewPage Corporation. We didn’t know too much about NewPage, but we quickly learned that they are the largest producer of printing and specialty papers in North America. Why were they interested in us? Well it turns out they were working on a new edition of the design magazine they publish, Ed, and it is focusing on advantages of digital printing. Needless to say, we were intrigued.
